Sri Lanka Minister of Petroleum visits and works at Petrolimex

Hanoi May 3, 2013This morning, Sri Lanka Minister of Petroleum Anuara Priyadarshana Yapa visited and worked with Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex)

Participating in the Sri Lanka delegation were Mr. R.H.S Samaratunga, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Industry, Mrs. K.A.H.D.S Sumanarathne, private secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Industry, H.E K.G. Ivan Amarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, Mr. L.E. Susantha Silva, Director General of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) , and Mr. C.P Samaraweera, Director (Trading) of CPC.

Mr. Phung Trong Tuan, Counselor of Vietnam Embassy to Sri Lanka, and representatives of the Department for South West Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Industry and Trade were also present.

Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, Chairman of Petrolimex Board of Management, Mr. Tran Van Thinh, Director General of Petrolimex together with representatives of the group departments and specialized companies such as petrochemicals company (PLC), marine transport (PG Tankers), joint stock companies such as installation 1 (PCC1), petroleum materials and equipment (PECO), and Petrolimex Singapore warmly welcomed and worked with the Sri Lanka delegation.

In the meeting, the two delegations gave information on their respective capacities, development orientation, requirement and desire for cooperation in the fields of petroleum and related goods and services which are their strong points.

On the basis of mutual understanding and for further progress, BoM Chairman of Petrolimex suggested to upgrade the commercial relations between Petrolimex and Sri Lanka , i.e., CPC by turning Petrolimex Singapore spot contracts into long-term contracts and expanding the supply of goods and services by Petrolimex to Sri Lanka such as lubricants, petrochemical products produced by PLC, paints produced by PITCO, specialized petroleum equipment produced or jointly produced by PECO , and other services such as petroleum installation and transport…

H.E Minister of Sri Lanka Petroleum Anuara Priyadarshana Yapa took note of the capacity, prestige and good will of Petrolimex and supported the boost up of commercial relations between the two countries in general and between Petrolimex and CPC in particular for the development of Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

For start up of cooperation, enterprises of both parties shall initiate activities according to international customs in their related fields.

The full name of Sri Lanka is Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka lying in the Indian Ocean with Colombo as the capital and GDP annual growth rate at 9.5%. Sri Lanka organizes yearly consumers trade fair in Colombo. This year the fair will be held between 5-7 July 2013. Basing on the fine commercial and friendly relations between the two countries, the Sri Lankan guests wished to welcome participation of Vietnamese enterprises in general and Petrolimex in particular in the fair and reserve certain priorities therein.
