It is indeed my pleasure and an honor for me to be up here as part of this double celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of Petrolimex Petrochemical Corporation and the 3rd class Independence Award to the company in recognition of its business achievements.

Chevron Oronite’s relationship began more than 10 years ago; not too long after we commissioned our Singapore Manufacturing Plant, which is the largest lubricant additive facility in Asia. Our purpose constructing the Singapore plant was very simple: we wanted to be closer to our customers, like Petrolimex, to better support your business needs. This plant is a very significant addition to our global supply network that includes two other world-class facilities in Gonfreville, France, and New Orleans, Louisiana, US.

In Products & Technology, Chevron Oronite has research centers in Richmond, U.S; Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Omaezaki, Japan. These centers are fully-equipped to carry out a full range of engine tests and laboratory bench test. A vital part of our strength is the close relationship between each Technology Center with the OEMs of the region, enabling collaboration to develop the best products for the industry.

Our technology Center in Japan, for example, has excellent rapport with leading OEMs such as Honda and this provides the basis for our ability to develop high quality additive packages for motorcycle engine lubricants. Petrolimex is a market leader in this segment and Chevron Oronite is proud to contribute this success.

From very early in our relationship, we have an established agreement aimed at supporting you in product development and marketing in addition to providing training programs. As part of our training program, for example, Petrolimex management team of its subsidiaries, Sales team, Technical team have visited Singapore on several occasions for product training that even includes updates on the market environment and industry trends. We also had a team visiting our facilities in Japan just last year.

Like many other industries, the lubricants market is very competitive. We understand the challenges that Petrolimex faces and I am proud to say that over the years, we haveworked together well to overcome them. It is most gratifying to see Petrolimex Petrochemical Corporation today, a very successful company commemorating its 20th anniversary; and being recognized with an 3rd class Independence Award. Chevron Oronite is proud part of that success story and we are committed to continue with our strong support as in the past.

A key commitment by Chevron Oronite in this region is in the area of Supply Reliability, which has been significantly strengthened with the recent completion of a major expansion project at the Singapore Manufacturing Plant. Mr Nguyen Van Duc, General Director of Petrolimex Petrochemical Corporation, was one of our honored guest at our celebration event in July and he would have heard the Chevron Oronite president’s address, when he said that Oronite wanted to ensure we would not only be able to continue reliably serving our customers throughout the region in the short term, but also for the foreseeable future. He specifically mentioned Vietnam as one of the rapidly developing markets that the Singapore Plant will be serving.

Petrolimex has featured prominently in the growth of Vietnam over the last 20 years and I have no doubt it will continue to play a major role for many more years to come. I want to reiterate our commitment to support your business with reliable supply of quality products to provide that competitive edge in a challenging market.

Today, we celebrate a successful past of Petrolimex Petrochemical Corporationand I want toextend my heartfelt congratulations again to the management and staff of Petrolimex for their great achievement.
